Kayla LOVES her freezer! If you notice at the beginning of the video, she is shuffing the ice cubes around in the ice box. She has been doing this with her blocks, legos, etc.. She thinks it is really fun! And, don't worry, we have since cleaned out the ice box so feel free to have a cold drink when you come over!

Kayla Walking
Here it is! Kayla took her first real steps for her Daddy on February 17, 2009...then, just a couple of days later, with the help of her cousin Stephanie, Kayla walked for the cameras! Lola also makes a cameo in this video. I think Kayla was so excited to have her favorite dog over that she didn't even know she was walking.

Aunt Jackie and Elmo

Aunt Jackie had us over for a lunch/play date! We had some good laughs, including one over how I feed Kayla the smallest bites of food in the world for fear of her choking. Aunt J thought Kayla would be eating all day trying to fill up on the crumbs I feed her so she stepped in and fed her some big pieces of Graham Crackers which were a huge hit! (and no choking whatsoever)
Kayla LOVES Elmo and so we pulled out cousin Natalie's Tickle Me Elmo for her to play with. (have you ever seen this thing? it is HYSTERICAL! it had me cracking up at least) We grabbed Elmo for a ride in the car to pick Natalie up from school and when we got home, cousin Kyle was home. We were able to get a great picture of the cousins together before Kyle had to go rest up for his big soccer game that evening. Uncle Brian was also not far from the fun....he grabbed Kayla and walked her one handed through the garage and around the back of the house. Good practice!
Thanks for a great day at the Promes'!

Ladies Lunching at Cal

I took my two favorite ladies to Cal for my favorite salad. Steph and Kayla (aka Ladies who Lunch) joined me at Intermezzo for a "tossed green with poppy seed dressing and beans/mixed, please". I only get to Berkeley to have this salad about once every two years when my college roommate rolls into town. We used to eat there ALL the time. Kayla was able to try a kidney bean so she is well on her way to being an Intermezzo salad junkie. She seemed to like it. I also picked up a Cal t-shirt for her. ...it's too big right now so I will post one of her in it when she gets a little bigger.

Playdate with Paisley

Cortney brought Paisley over on Monday morning for a playdate! Kayla loves having friends over and Mommy does too! Paisley is down in her crawl position with Kayla..I was hoping that Kayla would try to get in the walk position with Paisley and maybe even take a few steps...wishful thinking! Thanks Cort and Paisley for making the trip up to SF - we would love a visit every week!

Kayla and Zach Soaking it Up
Pickle and Peter brought Zach over for a playdate which included lots of milk and lots of pizza! We had to throw the messy twosome into the kitchen sink to clean them off! We had a ton of fun and hope to make a monthly Saturday night Giorgio's pizza night with the Hughes Family! (Zach even did some impressive standing up on his own tonight - he might be walking soon!)

Sunglasses, Barney and "Hi"! with Aunt Libby

Kayla had a playdate with her Aunt Libby on Friday. This is one of her FAVORITE places to visit. Aunt Libby and Kayla danced to Barney videos together and Kayla even had her own Barney doll to snuggle with during the breaks. When I got back from my appointment, Libby informed me that we can definitley write down "hi" in the baby book as Kayla's first word. She was crawling around the house waving and saying "hi"!

Ladies who Lunch Plus Hank

We had a great lunch date on Tuesday with Kyle's cousin Stephanie and her dog Lola. We picked up Pita Pit and set up camp on Chrissy Field. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of either of the ladies (Steph or Lola)! I was able to capture a shot of Kayla hanging out with two little boys that she quickly made friends with because they had a balloon! She crawled right off the blanket, onto the grass (which she HATES) and plopped herself in front of her two new friends. As Kayla continued to crawl her way around Chrissy Field, we spotted Hank on the path walking to the bridge. We EASILY convinced him to join us and before we new it we packed up the car and were driving over the Golden Gate Bridge to show Steph a new bike route. Our drive landed us in Tiburon, home of the famous Sam's outdoor patio where we planted ourselves for a couple of cocktails. Okay, Steph and Hank got to have cocktails while Kayla bathed herself in my Ginger Ale and then wiped it on me! Kayla and I are definitely looking forward to a weekly lunch date with the girls (and Hank too!)

Super Bowl at the Lacey's

I think these photos will be removed from the blog once we start telling Kayla that underage drinking is not okay! Kayla wanted to hang out with her Dad and be one of the boys so she grabbed a beer and a koozie and settled in for the game. Her buddy Hannah was napping so we played with all of her toys and waited patiently for her return (okay, not so patiently...Kayla was yelling toward Hannah's room trying to get her to come out and play).
Thanks to Jon and Kristina for a great Super Bowl party and yummy wings and blue cheese mashed potatoes!
